TOWN OF HYDRA
Hydra town has been built around the harbour and impresses with her imposing architecture. The old stone mansions constitute really ornamentsfor the island. In the entry of harbour, at both right and left side, rampants and cannons that protected the city give the stain of the historical identity of Hydra that played a leading part in the Greek Revolution.

Walking around to the paved with slabs streets, the impressions gain the historical monumants and the buildings with the traditional architecture. In the left side of harbour you will see the Port Authority which is accomodated in a building that used to be a gunpowder works. Today, some of them are housed museum and public services. The visitor has the opportunity to admire the interior of these historical buildings.
Almost in the center of the harbour, you˘ll see the Byzantine monastery of Dormition of Virgin Mary, which was founded the 1648. The narrow street that begins from the right side of the church leads to the old city, Kiafa. Don˘t miss this walk. You˘ll see unique beauties.

The beaches of Hydra are mainly rocky and their waters are deep. One of the most cosmopolitan beaches is Spilia. Other famous beaches are Bisti, Avlaki, Mandraki, Vlyhou and Molou.

Hydra, the cosmopolitan island of he Saronikos Gulf, is famous for her night life. There choices satisfy all requirements.
